Another anniversary

Thirty years ago tonight is when my life got ruined. Well, no, not really. But, dang, she was gorgeous. Well out of my league, but an influence on me since then. Ahhh, I'll just have to write more later.

So much for that idea

I wanted to write a nice long post about today's ten-year anniversary of the WTO riots, but it'll have to wait as work calls. I really should learn how to link posts, but I'm not even going to bother pointing you to the piece of crap that Lynda V. Mapes wrote in Sunday's Seattle Times. From the article, you'd think the author's knowledge of Seattle began and ended with a copy of Sleepless In Seattle rented from Blockbuster.

Here's a hint, Lynda: WTO was a symptom, not a cause of Seattle's ills. As a former journalist, I quickly figured out that one of the main duties in my job was to pay attention to what's going on. It's pretty sad to see that some people in the business consider that to be optional.

I think I'm going to try and post every day for the next month

I'm a late adapter (obviously), and I finally joined Facebook a couple of months ago. Today marks two important anniversaries for me. One is the 10th anniversary, the other the 30th anniversary. One is public, one is personal. And I want to write just a little more about them than I can do in 420 characters on Facebook.

Beyond that, I'm going to comment on whatever pleases me, whether it's on something current, something historical, something familiar, something peculiar, something for everyone, a comedy -- whoops. I think I'll try for at least one a day for the next month. Let's see how well that works.

Hey, look what I found. Does it still work?

*blows dust off*

*tap tap tap tap*

Oh, hey, it still works! I just need to clean the rust off.
