!@#$

If I'm going to do what I want to get done the next two years, I can't have too many days like today where I just goofed off. I'm disgusted. Fourteen days down, 736 to go.

At least school went well

School was OK. Went to a play at the local theatre guild, which has its playhouse a one-block walk from where I live. Need to put that on my bucket list -- get on the stage again. Even if it's just to carry a spear for a scene or two.

Thirteen days down, 737 to go.

But Donovan scored so that made the day a win!

Skipped the second-half of USA-Algeria to go to class and now regret it. After a VERY interesting Facebook catchup, I got some reading done at the library, thought I'd come home and work ... and just got distracted and completely unwilling to do any work. Somehow where I live isn't working for me, but against me. I need to change that.

Twelve days down, 738 to go.

Well, at least I spotted this early

I had a great first day of summer class yesterday, apart from trying to find the spot in the library I wanted, which I think I finally did after hit and mostly miss. But I'm noticing that yesterday's focus on the little picture means that I neglected the big picture.

I'll have to work on the big picture. But not until I've watched at least a half of USA-Algeria on the big screen before going to class. Go USA!

Eleven days down, 739 to go.

One day late

Got a lot done Monday, although it was stuff that should've been done weeks ago. Ten days down, 740 to go.

Under construction

I'm working on a big honking long post about how I got here and where I want to go as promised. But right now, it's sprawling like LA, only with even less style. So I'm going to get a good night's sleep ... right after I've worked on tomorrow's to-do list. And then I'll work on my opus tomorrow morning.

Nine days down, 741 days to go.

And just like that ...

Yesterday was a very productive day in that I sat down, looked at my bills, and figured out what it would take to pay them off in two years' time. One has to take interest into account, of course, but there are formulas for doing that. And as soon as I can figure out how to put a mathematical formula in here, I'll do just that for anyone reading this blog.

The answer, BTW, is a surprisingly low figure. In fact, I've decided I'm going to add to that. And I'm going to start first with the one that has the highest interest rate first, and devote maximum resources to that one while making minimum payments on the others. Then, after that, I'm going to take the next-highest interest rate, take what I was paying on the other bill, add it to the minimum I've been keeping up with, and then pound that second bill down ASAP. Lather, rinse, repeat. Now that I'm caught up, I'll devote my resources to paying down bills instead of late fees.

Eight days down, 742 to go. And just like that, one percent of two years is gone.

Yesterday

I'm just going to say that yesterday was a prime example of why I need to get more organized. Seven days down, 743 to go.

Done with finals

Six days down, 744 to go. Meant to write more last night, but I hit the hay early since USA-Slovenia was this morning.

Out of gas

I really would like to post a little bit more about myself -- who I am, how I got this point and where I plan to go from here. But that's going to have to wait at least one more day as short-term tactical necessity is dragging my tired butt into bed.

Of course, I'd like to have more energy, but we'll get to that. Five days down, 745 to go.

Quickie

Just want to say four days down, 746 to go as of last night. Almost done with school. One more test, and I've already clinched a B after thinking I was doing much, much worse, so I'm oddly not motivated. I may not even wear pants tomorrow when I go to it.

I picked a lousy week to quit sniffing glue

So, yeah, short-term tactical necessity is going to run the opening kickoff back for a touchdown. One hour of sleep by accident the night before and I was in no mood to do anything but vegetate last night. I'll get this worked out, but I just need to get past three last finals first.

Three days down, 747 to go.

Nights like these

Part of what I want to do in these 750 days is to set my life up to avoid nights like these. Nights where I'm not quite 40 percent done with a term paper that's due in 10 hours. Ugh.

Two days down, 748 to go.

Day 2: Uh, let me get this term paper out of the way first

I need to write a 1,500-word term paper for my macroeconomics class. Short-term tactical necessity will just have to kick the crap out of long-term strategic planning today. Ultimately, though, I need to make the two work together like rowers in a boat rather than playing Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot against each other.

I'll try and post more tonight, but for right now, it's one day down, 749 to go.

750 days

OK. This blog has been out there not doing much, but I'm going to try and change this. I think I've finally found a purpose for it.

Here's the deal: 750 days from now is going to be July 1, 2012. I'm in school right now to change my life for the better, but this past quarter has convinced me that I need to step up my game and be more systematic about what I want to do and how I want to go about it. I have some pretty good ideas about what I'd like life to be for me on 7/1/2012, but the big question is how to get from Point A to Point B, especially when the journey looks arduous and I don't have the map laid out in front of me. Screw that. I'm going to start walking and figure out the trail along the way.

As another rather more famous blogger is fond of saying, more on this later. Today, though, the USA is playing England, and it's time to root for the USA to win the game and drive every dumb*** English fan and Europoseur to shrieking insanity. Why, yes, I am a soccer geek. And I'm seeking to turn my life from Colchester United to something more resembling Manchester United. Come along and enjoy the ride.
